About UTech Marketing Seminar 2014-2015

Welcome to The Utech Marketing Seminar 2014/2015 website.
History
Some thirty-four years ago, under the watchful eyes of the University of Technology, Jamaica (then College of Arts, Science and Technology), the Marketing Seminar was born. It is a course used in helping to identify, hone and communicate the theoretical, social and practical skills of final-year students pursuing the above-mentioned discipline.
The course is held by way of a series of weekly business meetings, firstly organized and conducted by lecturers (facilitators) and then by the students elected and appointed to lead various committees and project teams. The curriculum provides numerous opportunities for students to cultivate skills and positive traits in areas such as reliability, leadership, team-work, communication and problem-solving methods. It is anticipated that the students, with some guidance, demonstrate good planning, organizing and communicative skills as they seek to conceptualize and execute a number of events that should be satisfactory (to consumers and stakeholders), socially responsible, relevant and financially lucrative.
The 34th instalment of the Marketing Seminar is seen as a brand with legacy, holding its place in the institution’s ‘Week of Excellence’ exercises. Some may even argue that this body is a proving-ground for soon-to-be professionals in areas such as strategic marketing management, retail, media, entrepreneurship, project management, event planning, amongst others. The conclusive event, the annual Students’ Conference (Seminar Day) is to be held at the Jamaica Conference Centre on March 24-25, 2014. With the continued support of the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) via the School of Business Administration (SOBA), state and private organizations and individuals, Seminar Day is sure to be a success.
The Seminar Body
The Seminar body consist of 68 students and is overseen by 5 facilitator. These students are both part time and full time final year marketing major students.
